Will Schofield shares his experiences for International Men’s Day

Throughout his career as a sportsman, Will Schofield has been a team player, a mentor, a role model, and most importantly, a Dad.

To celebrate International Men’s Day, Will will be sharing his experiences in a talk hosted by 4Dads, and addressing the 2020 theme, ‘leading by example’.

The event is free, with a light supper provided, and door prizes for attendees.

Community development officer Andre Cannavo said the event was a great opportunity to hear from a leading sportsman, and learn about how he manages pressures, and focuses on being the best Dad he can be.

“Children, especially teens, seek guidance from the people they look up to, and it’s important for Dads to set a good example of healthy behaviours to their children and those they mentor,” Mr Cannavo said.

“Will's experiences as a sportsman and team member have enabled him to guide those who admire and follow in his footsteps, and he will be talking about his experiences as a Dad and mentoring men.”

Mr Cannavo said in Mandurah, men can often be socially isolated from other men, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic many have exacerbated already existing challenges and stressors in relationships.

“For many men, stresses can include job losses, wage stagnation and relationship and family difficulties.

“We encourage everyone who may feel like they are struggling to seek support, or reach out for help if the anxiety or stress is getting on top of you.”
